We're getting hitched!!

On July 24, 2010 Casey proposed to me!  It's a funny story actually...

So Casey and I went to the mall to go look at rings. We had been looking online and talking about it but I wanted to see what things looked like in person. I have very tiny fingers so I wanted to see what would be a good size stone. I didn't want to get anything too gaudy! Anyway, we found the perfect ring at Helzberg (and it was even on clearance which I did not know when I picked it out!!). Casey has money saved up but right now it's tied up until September. So he had to call his mom to see if he could charge it on her credit card and he could pay her back next month. I went to Barnes & Noble while he spoke with her. He lied to me and told me she said no so we left the mall. I was very upset because I really loved the ring and it was a good price and I didn't understand why she wouldn't lend him the money. We went back to the car and he opened the door for me (what a gentleman!) and then went around to the other side of the car so he could drive us home. Before he got in the car, he told me I had a flat tire. I got sooooo mad...how much worse could this day be? I went around to take a look and when I got there, he was on his knee and he proposed. I cried like a baby, of course. Classic Casey. I couldn't have imagined him doing it any other way. :)

On Labor Day Weekend, we're going up to CT to look at wedding venues.  We're hoping to book the Candlewood Inn in Brookfield.  It's a little expensive and I have a budget of $15,000 for the venue/food ($20,000 budget total) so I'm hoping to get the price down.  I'm sure Big Daddy (my future father-in-law) will be able to work his magic.  He's a DJ in CT and has a lot of connections.  We may wind up having the wedding on a Sunday rather than a Saturday because it's usually cheaper.  Our guest list is at a total of 195 people....143 are ours and the rest are friends of our parents (which they will be paying for).  I can't really do more than $100 per person.

So that's the plan for now.  We have two years to get things figured out.  I've been doing my research and hopefully we will be able to save as much money as possible.  Any suggestions are welcome!!
